Location. Set in a converted 19th century building, the landmark Metropole Hotel is located on Place de Brouckere in central Brussels, Belgium. The hotel is one block from Rue Neuve and within 500 metres of the Grand Place square, Manneken Pis statue and the Chocolate Museum. Brussels Airport (BRU) is 16 kilometres away.

Hotel Features. The lobby evokes 19th century grandeur with bronze marble, gold columns and huge chandeliers. Built in 1895, the Metropole is the city's oldest hotel.

Restored to glory in 2002, the baroque style L'Alban Chambon restaurant features stained glass windows, ochre marble columns and parquet floors. The restaurant serves French flavours like risotto of Saint Jacques scallops and wild boar in a sesame seed crust. Champagne is served in the sofly lit bar. Opening onto a heated, canopied terrace, the Caf� Metropole offers a selection of light meals and pastries. A buffet breakfast is served (surcharge) in the marble Excelsior Lounge, which has dark wood furniture and burgundy leather chairs.

The Metropole Hotel offers 10 air conditioned function rooms for up to 600 people.

Guestrooms. The Metropole Hotel's 305 air conditioned guestrooms are individually designed. Rooms are decorated in warm hues with high ceilings, heavy drapes and Art Deco touches. All rooms feature high speed Internet connections (surcharge), video game consoles, safes and minibars. The marble or mosaic bathrooms include separate baths and showers, complimentary toiletries and bathrobes.

From Brussels Airport (BRU):
Distance to Metropole Hotel is 16 kilometres, approximately 30 minutes' drive.

Getting there. The airport's railway station is located below the terminal building on the basement level, and is accessible by elevator. Airport City Express trains leave every 10 30 minutes between 5 a.m. and midnight, and travel to the city's three main stations. Single fares cost 2.60 EUR. Metered taxis can be found in front of the Arrivals hall; licensed cabs have a blue and yellow emblem. The journey to the centre of Brussels takes about 20 minutes and costs 30 EUR 40 EUR. De Lijn buses run to the city every 45 minutes. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. Situated on Place de Brouckere, the Metropole Hotel is 500 metres from the Grand Place. Brussels and the surrounding suburbs are served by an integrated bus, metro, and tram network, which offers a cheap and efficient way to explore the city. Tickets should be validated prior to boarding. Over 600 taxi ranks are located around the city.
