Location. The family run Hotel San Marco is located in the centre of the Belle Epoque spa town of Montecatini Terme, Italy, opposite Parco delle Terme and 500 metres from the town's train station. The historic walled city of Lucca is 20 kilometres from the hotel.

Hotel Features. The Hotel San Marco is a modern hotel housed in a 1960s property set overlooking the Parco delle Terme. The hotel opens onto a lobby decorated in traditional style with armchairs and standard lamps. The reading and games rooms feature polished wood floors and the lounge offers widescreen television and soft seating. Other amenities include wireless Internet access and complimentary parking.

The Hotel San Marco restaurant serves a range of Tuscan dishes as well as traditional Italian fare and international dishes. The bar serves long drinks and cocktails through the day and evening and opens onto a terrace that runs the length of the hotel and overlooks the park. A complimentary buffet breakfast is offered every morning.

Bikes can be hired on site. The tennis courts and outdoor pool at the sister hotel, Grand Hotel La Pace, can be used by guests. The Hotel San Marco offers discounts on beauty treatments in the Hotel La Pace's beauty salon and on green fees at the local Montecatini golf club.

Guestrooms. The 60 guestrooms are spread over six floors. Decor combines traditional and contemporary styles. White walls are complemented by deep red soft furnishings and modern furniture, including wrought iron beds. Amenities include satellite television, multi line phones, minibars and safes. Bathrooms include robes. Extra towels, linens and bedding are included.

Expert Tip. A world renowned spa resort, Montecatini Terme's previous visitors include Rossini, Verdi, Princess Grace, Orson Welles, Clark Gable and Douglas Fairbanks. A funicular railway runs up to Montecatini Alto, the original Montecatini settlement, which offers panoramic views over the countryside.

From Pisa Airport (PSA):
Distance to San Marco Hotel is 40 kilometres, approximately 40 minutes' drive.

Getting there. A direct train service runs between Pisa Airport and Montecatini Terme. Taxis can be picked up from outside the airport.

Getting around. Montecatini Terme is small and compact and easy to explore on foot. Trains run from Montecatini Terme to Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Livorno and many other Tuscan places of interest. Cycling is a popular way of getting around. A car is useful for exploring the surrounding Tuscan countryside.

From Florence Vespucci Airport (FLR):
Distance to Hotel San Marco is 50 kilometres, approximately 60 minutes' drive.

Getting there. Buses from the airport run to Montecatini Terme. Taxis can be picked up from outside the airport to get to the hotel.

Driving directions. From Florence airport, take the A11 highway in the direction of Pisa Nord and exit at Montecatini Terme.
Follow the signs to the town centre.
